旅美棒球好手王建民今天清晨返回台灣，停留約一個月的時間，談到明年球季，王建民力拚重返大聯盟，但也提到「如果沒球隊打，可能直接退休」。
今天清晨六時，王建民身穿短袖T恤、牛仔褲，與老婆小孩現身桃園機場。現場有數十名球迷守候，準備棒球、照片索取簽名，一聲聲喊著「建民加油，我們支持你」。
王建民在入境大廳短暫受訪，談到今年這個球季，他說「這幾年的訓練，就是等今年這一刻，雖然沒有常出賽，如果能出賽都有把握住」。
王建民說，今年春訓的時候，教練希望看到球速，在比賽中球速到九十四英里、九十五英里，才有機會可以上大聯盟。
王建民目前是自由球員，新東家還沒有著落，他說「都是經紀公司跟球團聯絡，現在還沒有消息」。對於明年有什麼期待？王建民說「也沒有什麼期待，有球隊就打，沒有球隊可能就直接退休」。
去年季後到德州棒球學校訓練，收到成效，王建民說在那裡是調整動作，讓投球時用到全身的力量，手臂比較不容易受傷，投球順暢度更好。
王建民今年不舉行返台記者會，接下來的公開行程是十二月六日到九日在屏東的棒球營，以及十二月廿八日中華職棒球員工會在苗栗舉行的公益高球賽。
王建民今年效力堪薩斯皇家隊，在大聯盟出賽卅八場都是後援，戰績六勝○敗，防禦率四?二二。
